This was for an advert for Panther securities plc who were moving. I had to draw all of them, which was actually good fun. I think everyone recognized themselves. Or at least they didn't tell me. I once had to do caricatures at Wembley arena and I did a great picture of some bloke, it was about 10 lines and just got him perfectly. He was fuming like an onfire chimney, all his mates laughing. I thought he was going to punch me, but his mates laughter put him off. I found the drawing scrumpled up later in the toilet...

I think I can put this into 'IF', as doing something with such odd perspective not only challenges pre-formed notions, but is mentally stimulating too. As stated, this is one of 4, here is how the aw was done.
Having just seen that the topic is 'brave' this now has become a brave decision to carry on regardless.....

No posts for ages. I'm just trying to get to grips with a project that I have been doing which is making suitcases. Well, the insides of them to be exact. 4 suitcases, showing a journey, all linked and including the lids. Its a tricky one to show. There are photos of them at Bridging arts blog:

Fabulous Mr Fox

Have just done a whole load of illustrations for 'Fabulous Mr fox' by Roald Dahl for a youtube reading for Dad's reading to children awareness day. Really quick turnaround, but lots of fun to do. Can't wait to see it go live. I'll put a few up here as a taster

Here's a giant sized unfinished painting. Its gone through so many changes its ridiculous. Still needs work, but its one of those things, you change one bit , then another bit needs changing.....

Ah, I can smell the salty air now, drifting through my hair (what's left of it...) Gulls circling overhead, bumping along with all the detritus in my little boat, looking for supper...

This was drawn from memory from an instruction leaflet on how to construct something which I can't quite recollect what but it must have been worth the hours of toil. Unfold first, and i'm sure it would work perfectly

Breezy

Haven't had much time to do any IF-ing recently but I thought i'd do a slight breeze, nothing too dramatic. Quiet. Apart from the fierce howling of the dog of course. This would be carried away on the hushing breeze, to be a part of another picture altogether.

Time

'Time please!' in a pub in England means you have to get your last orders in. Sometimes literally, sometimes metaphorically...
This was an illustration I did for the science section in the Financial Times

Tis verily a pale imitation. I could write a whole bunch of stuff to go with this but it might just end up leaving you feel pale with tedium, so I shall let the image speak for itself..!

Christmas credit crunch cracker

Hohohoho! Well, its about that time of the year, and a special credit crunch year. Let us hope that we don't all get crunched. Wishing everyone who visits the 'ol blog a Happy Christmas.
Oh, and fingers crossed for a prosperous new year.....!

Rambunctious

Ram- bunctious! Geddit! This is a job which would have been fun to do except the pay, it would have left me homeless and my poor wee children eating gruel for the foreseeable future! So I declined, and the children still are able to have an extra dish of sweet nourishing gruel every other Thursday! (Still have home though!)
[Note to myself-must find out exactly what gruel is one day...]

In the days of yore, there existed an olde worlde technique, called 'painting' It required a brush, or several, water, paint and some dexterity with mixing and application. Astonishingly there was no command z. Here is one such example, found in a cave, somewhere in olde englande..
There are certain similarities in the appearance of the the two young ladies and perhaps the non-existance of the command z explains this strange occurence, although the relationship between them and the candy floss is, altogether more difficult to comprehend, and cannot altogether be explained by the lack of the aforementioned command.

This idea went down like a lead balloon..
